  • Hi Everyone

Hope you are safe and well

I have been constructing a EMD 15AC Diesel Switcher its a model I hoped to have in my collection for some time now.

The main issue is the cab windows I have a driver in an axis using the _DriveDirF & _DriveDirR and since doing this my windows are no longer visible or if I play about in homeNos my train driver are no longer visible and and windows are. I have tried the "SortToViewer" And "SortToViewerLevel" both to 1

I am thinking it has to do with the additional axis in the cab that has some affect but I am not 100% thats why I am here looking for assistance.

depends on the camera angle Whether the driver is visible or not : ma_1:

  • Craig,

please post a screenshot of the "Achsenschachtelung"

That might make it easier to give an advice.

We need the informations about the position of the axis for drivers and glas to help you.

And a posting of the [Model] part of the system.ini would be helpful as well

    Greetings

    Michael

  • Hey Craig,

If it is the glass and the SortToViewer thingy, then it should be both driver and interior that disappers. Everything behind the glass. Not only the driver. If it is only the driver, then it could be that he is underneath the glass, in the order they lay in, in the "List of Kon files". I solved a couple of those issues, by placing the glass at the last position in the Kon files order.

Otherwise it sounds a lot like a SortToViewer issue. Playing with 0 and 1 in the settings sometimes does the trick. Ie SortToViewer=1 SortToViewerLevel=0 and so forth. Dunno why - never got a qualified explanation. Just the encouragement from others to try it that way.

If it is only the driver, then SortByAxis might work too. Have no knowledge about this feature.

Best of Lok (pun intended - it is a bloddy gorgious switcher you made there)

  • Hey Craig,

try to separate the kon-files of the windows/glas as single objects and put them in separate axis at the end of the "Assembly (coupling) of the Axis"

  • Some answers to the "sort to "-topic can be found here

    Einstellungen für Scheiben

Basically it is important for the interaction of models equiped with transparent faces / glas.

To get the driver visible behind the windscreen you only need to put the windscreen/glas kon-file on the last position in the kon list or in a separat axis at the end in the Assembly (coupling) of axis.

Using a separat axis is needed in case of moving doors etc. where the glas has to follow the movement of another object.

In your locomotiv the placing on the last position in the kon-list should work fine.

    Hi Michael

I'm in you debt again, the additional axis for the glass worked but coupling the axis did not strangely it made the glass sit at an odd angle to the model . I did try this myself before and it never worked but I never had the SortToViewer settings or SortByAxis maybe a combination of both was required in my case.

    Danke :)
