Anfang der 1950er Jahre bestückte die Deutsche Bundesbahn insgesamt 30 Lokomotiven der Baureihe 184-5 mit neuen geschweißten Hochleistungskesseln und fasste die umgebauten Lokomotiven in der neuen Unterbaureihe 186 zusammen. Die Lokomotiven erhielten die Nummern 18 601 bis 630 in der Reihenfolge des Umbaus.
Da wäre auch ein Highlight auf vielen Anlagen!
